My cattery is in Northern California. It’s a very small home-based cattery that I started after retirement. I wanted to show a cat as a pastime and have the love and companionship of a beautiful cat. I’ve always been fond of the British Shorthair breed since I was a child. When I set out to find my show cat, I was specifically looking for a male cat with a blue coat. However, when I stumbled upon the Silver Gene Variety, I fell in love and decided that was the type of cat I wanted as my constant loving companion.
During my search, I ended up falling in love with more than one cat. I ended up with a Black Silver Shaded British Shorthair Female and a Blue Silver Lynx Point British Shorthair Male, which is another pattern of the Silver Gene British Shorthair line. I couldn’t resist their rarity and uniqueness. Their ringtails are simply stunning. When I took my male cat to a show, one person humorously suggested that I should tell everyone that he was an albino raccoon – it really fits!
That’s how I ended up with a pair of show/breeder cats of the silver gene variety of the British Shorthair breed. They are the love of my life, and the kittens they produce are just bonuses. Therefore, all the kittens are raised as if they are part of the family – receiving ample attention and love from the day they are born.
I have acquired a wealth of knowledge about Silver Shaded, Color Point, and Chinchilla British Shorthair Cats and Kittens. I’ve made an effort to share extensive information about this unique and rare line of the British Shorthair breed on my website. The Silver Shaded and Chinchilla British Shorthairs originated in Europe in the 1970s and have been quite popular there and in most Eastern countries. This is where I found my cats since they were hard to find in the US. Although they are not yet widely recognized in the US, they are gaining popularity among pet owners and are starting to be seen more at shows.
You can find more information about these cats on my About the Breed page, and I plan to provide more details in the future. I am passionate about these cats, so if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. I currently have three Blue Silver Shaded Chinchilla Point British Shorthair females and look forward to having more of these beauties in the future. By the way, Color Point cats almost always have blue eyes and are incredibly beautiful. When you pet them, it feels like touching velvet – it’s very hard to describe. If you haven’t seen Silver Shaded or Chinchilla British Shorthair cats or kittens, be sure to check out My Cats Page and the Previous Kitten Page for photos of my past litters and my little darlings.
